Paul and I were out on Monday, GPS mapping the roads on the Silverclaim Road near Elk Lake. A lot of wood has come out of this road with massive clear cuts that go forever. Lots of planting taking place too. After lunch we went up the old road to the Welsh Mine (formerly the Otisse Mine). A headframe is still visible and some old out buildings all within sight of Silverclaim Lake. For some further reading go here.

Hi Bill,
I was so happy to find these pictures of Gowganda and the surrounding area. My parents started taking me to Camp GowBushKon when I was 6 (back in 1957)and we continued every summer until I was grown. I also spent time camping on Sinclair Lake later in life. I love the area. Hope to get back there sometime.

Bill, I hope you don't mind me replying to this message in this way, but I am curious as to who Darlene might be.
Darlene, I moved into the house beside GowBushKon in 1957...we most certainly would have met as we were always over at Lasher's.I was 8 then. My name is Gert.
Hi Gert,
My name is Darlene Cline. My mother and father were Arley and Norma Cline. We used to go over to the house next to camp and buy homemade donuts and play with the kids at camp and in the old cemetery. I believe it was a German family that lived there. Are you part of that family? Had many wonderful summers at that camp. Thinking about coming back soon to visit.
