- First time in Gowganda was 1968 with the Dept. of Lands and Forests, doing a soil and vegetation study for the Wildlife Productivity Inventory. While here found the country amazing, the boreal forest the lakes at every turn and the air clean and fresh. It didn't take long back then to get the camera out and start recording some of the sights I'd seen. Since then with a few layoffs in photography its good to get right back at it. Putting your pictures on a blog like this forces you to go out and take more pics, which is the goal of this site. For more on GOWGANDA check out (((www.gowganda.net)))

Anonymous, It's my name for a lake (swamp) just south of Diabase Lake west of town, where the snowmobile trail comes out to the road.
We have had the opposite weather, it felt like autumn last week and now it's full winter with much snow and yesterday we had -23C.I hope the snow will stay for Christmas.
Have been to Gowganda about four times. Auld Reekie in 1969, Bullocks and Lookout Point. Also was at Houston Lake two or three times. One week at Horseshoe Island, Mistinikon Lake, Matechewan. A former summer resident of Gowganda was from Tiffin, Ohio, Wendell Main. '69 was still a (rough) gravel road.
