Out ATVing again
Up the Bouche Rd and across the trail north of Firth Lake, south down the Holwood Rd. east on highway 560 to Elkhorn Rd and south as far as the road into Margueratt lake and into the cut to the east. The bridge has been taken out where Margueratt Lake flows into Elkhorn. Lots of good birch wood slash going to waste again. Finally back up to the highway and home. Good trip even better weather. The pictures are from Firth Creek north of Firth Lake

What would you do with the good birch wood slash and why is it wasting ?
Ron,
After they cut they push all the slash up in huge piles, these are what the delimber takes off and ends of all species of wood. Then they burn the piles in the fall. In the spring a scarifier roots up all the ground to make it ready for the planters.
When the wood is in the piles people from town go in and recover the white birch for firewood. Most people heat with wood. When they cut off the road it become inaccesable to drive to the piles there by cutting off a source of free firewood thats only going to be burnt anyway.
thank you very much for explaining
