These are some pics of a couple of weeks ago when the new solar lites were put in at Outlook Point. They were installed by a couple of fellows from Ornge the organization that fly the medical emergency helicopters in Ontario.
Ever since the helicopter crash in Moosonee a little over a year ago killing 2 pilots and 2 paramedics they have not been allowed to land where there were no lites. The fix was to install solar lites at helipads across the province that didn't have lites. Ninety one helipads will be now be in service because of the new solar lites.

And these lights are really bright...one can see them from every angle on the lake...good for night fishermen too!
So they are always on at night?
Karen
Yes.
Hi Bill-
Where is the garbage pit you took the great bear shot ? I was up last week and meant to ask Dave Runion about it but forgot.
Looks like Close Encounters of the Third Kind!!
Nice to see. Wasn't anything like that when I was a kid. You either toughed it out for 1.5hrs to get to New liskeard or Sometimes Longpoint would take you. If I remember right. My dad flew a few people in. Dave Bullock hurt his neck and dad took the seats out so he could lay flat. I believe he also flew John Trajkowicz to the hosp. when his had was nearly shot off. As far as I know he never accepted payment for any of those flights. Lots of memories.
