It had to come to an end-snow today

Cooler today with about and inch of snow, stuck around all day. Tomorrow promises to be better.Down to the mail today and saw some new birds floating around the rocks. Went down and took some pics of widgeon, scaup, bufflehead, and gulls for about 20 minutes, walked back to put the camera in the truck and out of the corner of my eye a Bald Eagle swooped down upon them and scared them all away, missed a good picture there.
Then a trip out to Single Lake, to see if I could see the otter's and get a pic, no such luck, maybe nest time. Heard my first loon of the season here too.

I like that second picture. too bad about the bald eagle-but how can you know? Maybe next time. My oldest used to feed the birds outside our kitchen door and stand for hours at the window watching them eat. One day a local hawk swooped down and got one of the sparrows or buntings and took it away. She watched the whole thing and realized she had been feeding ALL the birds and quit putting out seed. She just didn't want to bait for the hawk I guess. That hawk one time perched on our back rail and watched our little parakeets through the back sliding glass door for awhile, like s/he was trying to figure out how to get to that tasty snack. It was very exciting to see the hawk so close and still. When s/he realized s/he was on display too, LAUNCH into the air with a big thrust off and much flapping of wings. Magnificent! Have a happy day!

Great pics Bill,
I spent about 15 minutes trying to get a picture of the Wigeon last night but it was too dark by the time I saw them... the pictures didn't turn out. Thanks for taking them!!!
